Mining

 

Our client, a wholly owned subsidiary of an international mining company is looking to recruit a Country Safety, Health, Environment and Community (SHEC) Coordinator. Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Country SHEC Coordinator will be responsible for SHEC Coordination in the whole country. Your duties will include; developing strategies and action plans to encourage positive commitment to SHEC in all employees, ensuring that the SHEC system is suitable, effective and adequate, in addition to leading, managing and developing the SHEC team. Your knowledge and skills should include; sound experience and knowledge of risk based management systems, a solid understanding of exploration related SHEC practices, knowledge of action plan tracking mechanisms and strong analytical and problem solving skills. To be considered for this position you must have a qualification in a SHEC related field with at least 3-5 years experience in the mining industry, preferably in mineral exploration. Our client, The Millennium Challenge Account Zambia (MCA-Zambia) was established to coordinate the development of an investment program or ‘compact’ to be supported by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a US Government Agency.   MCA –Zambia is seeking to employ the services of qualified and experienced individuals to take up the following positions:

 

 

Resettlement & Social Impact Officer

 

Reporting to the Environmental & Social Performance Director you will be responsible for all activities related to voluntary and involuntary land acquisition, resettlement and displacement. Your duties will include; coordinating with stakeholders in implementing Compact projects, to oversee and manage the development and implementation of Project-specific RAPs, and coordinating with the Director responsible for the Innovation Grant.  To be considered for this position, you must have a Degree in Social Sciences, Land Tenure, Law or other field related to involuntary resettlement and land acquisition, with a minimum of 5 years professional experience in a relevant sector. Procurement Director

 

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer-Administration you will be responsible for ensuring that all procurement transactions are implemented in accordance with the MCC Program Procurement Guidelines. Your duties will include; managing the flow of procurement activity, identifying initial procurement needs and organizing procurement operations.  To be considered for this position, you must have an advanced degree in a relevant discipline, with a minimum of 10 or more years of experience in developing and managing procurements in systems applying International standards. Infrastructure Development Director

 

Reporting to the Deputy CEO-Operations (DCEO-O) you will be responsible for managing all infrastructure activities related to the Lusaka Water Supply, Sanitation & Drainage Project. Your duties will include; participating in the preparation and/or review of all relevant project documents, providing guidance and support to the consultants and contractors working on all infrastructure project activities, and liaising with the Finance and Admin Director to ensure accurate disbursement requests to MCC. To be considered for this position, you must have an advanced degree in any relevant technical discipline, with a minimum of 12 or more years of professional experience in Project Management which includes activities ranging from design to construction and supervision to close out. Environmental & Social Performance Director

 

Reporting to the DCEO-O you will be responsible for providing requisite leadership and technical input to help ensure the environmental and social performance of all Compact funded activities. Your duties will include; ensuring compliance of the Program activities with relevant Zambian environmental laws and regulations, providing technical input on all Environmental and Social Management Plans, and execution of the environmental management and technical assistance activities for Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company and Lusaka City Council. To be considered for this position, you must have an advanced degree in a relevant field, and at least 8 years demonstrated experience managing or overseeing the environmental and social performance of water supply, sanitation, or drainage projects, and/or similar projects. Social & Gender Assessment Director

 

Reporting to the DCEO-O you will be responsible for ensuring that projects and activities comply with MCC’s Gender Policy and Integration Guidelines and milestones.  Your duties will include; ensuring that all gender and social inclusion activities are fully designed and implemented, collaborating with other MCA-Zambia counterparts to ensure that social and gender provisions are integrated across the compact and within relevant communications and revising the SGIP annually as required. To be considered for this position, you must have an advanced degree in social sciences or a related discipline with a minimum of 10 years or more experience in social and gender related issues in an international development context, with demonstrated expertise in social and gender analysis and gender integration in projects. Communications and Outreach Director

 

Reporting to the DCEO-O you will be responsible for developing and implementing broad-based strategic communications strategies. Your duties will include; developing and implementing a private sector partner strategy to communicate private sector successes and issuing timely bulletins to stakeholders to furnishing them with information about the program.  To be considered for this position, you must have an advanced degree in a relevant discipline, with a minimum of 10 or more years of relevant working experience in corporate communications community and public outreach, with a minimum of 3 years at a senior management level.
